One thing I am so in love with in Seoul are the palaces, but I do have a favourite palace, Changdeokgung. Changdeokgung is known to have perfect harmony between nature and manmade. It is famous for it’s secret garden which was made for the royal family and palace women. I painted these steps which lead to beautiful gardens. I just love the trees that tower over the stairs.

The image was painted during Autumn time when the leaves were golden and orange, I find Korea to be most beautiful in the Autumn. I hope this painting can capture it’s warmth. Notice how the branches are carefully shaped based on how it’s been trimmed, creating these winding shapes.
